May 2010 Art Show - Application

CRAFTS
This class volunteers their time and talents to create items for our Forget-Me-Not-Shoppe and our Fall Craft Fair, which raises money for The Center. We work with fabric, paint, glue, wood, paper cut outs, rubber stamps, silk flowers, and more. Wednesdays, 10 am–Noon. Max. 15 students. No Fee.

CROCHETING
Instructor, Rosemary O’Donnell, welcomes anyone who wishes to learn or practice crocheting. No experience is needed, just buy a simple learn to crochet book, bring a “g” or “h” hook, one skein of light-colored worsted yarn, and a standing 6-8” mirror if you are left handed. Wednesdays, 1-3 p.m. No Fee.

FREESTYLE PAINTING
Bring your own supplies and paint in any medium with good company. Tuesday, 1–3 pm. No instructor. No fee.

QUILTING WORKSHOP
Led by instructor, Martha Hadarics, this group’s primary function is to make quilted items that are used to raise money for The Center. Annually, we make a queen-sized quilt, and two other quilted items that are raffled at our December Social. We also hand-quilt quilts for individuals on our large floor frame, as well as items for our booth at the annual craft fair. Each of us finds a niche that suits our individual quilting skills. We are an old-fashioned “quilting bee” with room for all skill levels, and welcome anyone willing to try their hand at our favorite occupation. Mondays, 1–3 p.m. No Fee.

ROCK DAY SPINNERS
The hum of spinning wheels, the buzz of conversation, and the rainbow of colors of the fibers the members are spinning create a very relaxed and congenial atmosphere. Come join in the fun, fellowship, and snacks provided by the Rock Day Spinners. If you don’t know how to spin, we will teach you. Enjoy the show-and-tell portion of each meeting when spinners, weavers, and knitters show their projects.  4th Saturday of the month, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. September-June. Yearly dues $5 for seniors, $10 under age 55.

WATERCOLORS  (All Levels)
learn watercolor painting techniques and creating masterpieces of landscapes and other representational art. Class is designed for all skill levels. Supply list available. Thursday, 10:00am-noon. $35 per 5 week session. Minimum 5 students. REGISTER

WOODCARVING
We have an active group of men and women who are engaged in all types of woodcarving. Friendly professionals will help you to make your first cut into wood. Learn how to work with the grain of wood and the feel of your tool. Make an object of lasting beauty for a special person. Only requirement: enthusiasm! Fridays 9 a.m.-1p.m. No Fee.
